This guide is for Nepali students applying to Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario. It covers the acceptance rate, the grades and English scores you need, the documents to prepare in Nepal and each step from application to study permit. What is Cambrian College’s acceptance rate?

Cambrian College doesn’t publish an acceptance rate. Figures such as “70%” on other websites are outside estimates, not official numbers.

What decides your offer is simpler: whether you meet your program’s academic and English requirements, and whether seats are still open when you apply. Popular programs and the September intake fill first, so a complete application sent early gives you the best chance.

What grades do you need from Nepal?

Each program sets its own academic requirements, compared against Ontario Grade 12 or a Canadian diploma or degree. There is no single minimum GPA for the whole college.

• Diplomas and bachelor’s degrees (after +2): the Bachelor of Business Administration asks for six Grade 12 courses, including English and Math, with a 65% average. Practical Nursing asks for a 70% average across its prerequisite subjects: English, Biology, Chemistry and Math.
• Graduate certificates (after a bachelor’s degree or diploma): you need a related diploma or degree. Cybersecurity, for example, asks for a diploma or degree in computer science, IT or a related field.

What English scores does Cambrian College accept?

IELTS 6.0 with no band under 5.5 for certificates and diplomas, and IELTS 6.5 with no band under 6.0 for graduate certificates and degrees. PTE, TOEFL and Duolingo are also accepted.

The Social Service Worker diplomas use the graduate certificate scores. If your score is just below the minimum, you can apply to Cambrian’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program together with your main program. Which documents do you need from Nepal?

Notarized transcripts of your previous study, an English test result and a copy of your passport, plus a portfolio for creative programs.

• Notarized transcripts and certificates from your high school (+2) and any college or university study. Our guide explains how to get transcripts in Nepal from NEB, TU and other boards.
• Certified English translations of any document that isn’t in English.
• An assessment of your documents by a certified credential evaluator.
• Your IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or Duolingo score report.

• A portfolio, for creative art and design programs.

How do you apply to Cambrian College, step by step?

You apply online through OCAS International, accept your offer and pay the fees shown on your letter of acceptance, then get your PAL and apply for your study permit.

1. Prepare your documents from the list above.
2. Apply on OCAS International. You can choose up to three Cambrian programs in one application.
3. Get your offer. Cambrian posts your offer or letter of acceptance (LOA) in your application portal, and all updates come through the portal.
4. Accept and pay. Accept the offer, pay the fees shown on page two of your LOA to secure your seat, and keep the receipt. To send tuition from a Nepali bank you need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Education; see how to apply for an NOC in Nepal.
5. Get your Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). Most college students need a PAL from Ontario for their study permit. It comes through the college after you accept your offer. Read what a PAL is and who needs one.
6. Apply for your study permit with your LOA, PAL, fee receipt and proof of funds, plus a statement of purpose explaining your study plan (see our SOP guide for a Canada student visa). If your program has a mandatory co-op or placement, apply for a co-op work permit at the same time.
