Quick answer

The essentials at a glance

Seneca Polytechnic doesn't publish an acceptance rate; offers depend on meeting your program's grade and English requirements, and competitive programs go to the strongest applicants.

From Nepal you need at least 50% in your program's required +2 subjects for diplomas (65% for degrees) and IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 depending on the level. You apply on Seneca's own International Student Web Application, not OCAS, with your NEB transcripts and passport.

This guide is for Nepali students applying to Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto, Ontario. It covers the acceptance rate, the grades and English scores you need, the documents to prepare in Nepal and each step from application to study permit. For campuses, fees and scholarships, see our Seneca Polytechnic profile, and for programs, intakes and PGWP status, our Seneca programs guide.

What is Seneca Polytechnic’s acceptance rate?

Seneca Polytechnic doesn’t publish an acceptance rate. Percentages quoted on other websites are outside estimates, not official numbers.

What decides your offer is whether you meet your program’s academic and English requirements, and whether seats are still open. Seneca says meeting the minimum doesn’t guarantee admission: in competitive programs, seats go to the most qualified applicants, ranked from highest to lowest. Seneca also assesses your file on what you send with the application, and late documents can delay or sink it. A complete application sent early gives you the best chance.

What grades do you need from Nepal?

For Nepali applicants, Seneca asks for at least 50% (C+) in the program’s required subjects for diplomas and certificates, 65% (B) in five Grade XII subjects for degrees, and a degree or diploma in second division for graduate certificates.

Each program then adds its own subject requirements. Examples from Seneca’s program pages:

  • Computer Programming and Analysis (advanced diploma): Grade 12 English and Math.
  • Practical Nursing (diploma): 70% in each of English, Math, Biology and Physics or Chemistry.
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering): a 70% average in six Grade 12 courses, with at least 70% in English, Calculus, Functions, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Artificial Intelligence (graduate certificate): a degree or diploma in computer programming, software development or a related field, or relevant work experience.

Your NEB results are compared against these requirements, so it helps to know your percentage: convert your NEB GPA to a percentage with our NEB GPA calculator. Some professional programs also ask for a credential assessment from World Education Services (WES); Seneca emails you if yours does.

What English scores does Seneca Polytechnic accept?

IELTS 6.0 with no band under 5.5 for certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas, and IELTS 6.5 with no band under 6.0 for degrees, graduate certificates and the master’s. Tests must be less than two years old.

Practical Nursing uses the bachelor’s degree scores, and the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing uses the graduate certificate scores. Seneca also accepts CAEL and Cambridge English results. If your score is short, you can start at Seneca’s English Language Institute (ELI) and move into your program after it. To compare scores across Canadian colleges, see our IELTS and PTE guide for Canada.

Which documents do you need from Nepal?

The photo and signature pages of your passport, your NEB Grade XI and XII transcripts and completion certificate, and an English test result. Graduate certificate applicants also send their degree and university transcripts.

  • A copy of the photo and signature pages of your valid passport. If you don’t have one yet, see getting a Nepali passport for study abroad.
  • Your Grade XI and XII academic transcript from the National Examinations Board and your school completion certificate. Our guide explains how to get transcripts in Nepal from NEB, TU and other boards.
  • For graduate certificates: transcripts for all years of your bachelor’s degree or diploma, and the degree or diploma certificate.
  • Certified English translations of any document that isn’t in English.
  • Your IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or Duolingo score report.
  • Anything extra your program asks for, such as a portfolio or questionnaire. Seneca emails you the details.

Upload scans as PDF, JPG or PNG files of up to 10 MB each. Nepali certificates and bank documents often carry Bikram Sambat dates; our Nepali date converter helps you match them to the A.D. dates on your forms.

How do you apply to Seneca Polytechnic, step by step?

You apply on Seneca’s own International Student Web Application, not OCAS. After an offer, you accept it in Student Home and pay your first-semester fees, and Seneca then sends your LOA and PAL for the study permit.

  1. Prepare your documents from the list above.
  2. Apply on the International Student Web Application. Choose your start date, up to three program choices and your campus, upload every required document and pay the CAD 90 application fee by credit card. Seneca credits the fee back to your account after you are accepted and pay your first-semester fees.
  3. Get your offer. Seneca emails your Student Home login. Your offer appears under the Admissions tile, and Seneca emails you if it needs anything else.
  4. Accept and pay. Accept your program in Student Home and pay your first-semester fees by the due date on your fee notice. To send tuition from a Nepali bank you need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Education; see how to apply for an NOC in Nepal.
  5. Get your letter of acceptance (LOA) and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). Seneca issues both once your fees are paid. Read what a PAL is and who needs one.
  6. Apply for your study permit with your LOA, PAL, fee receipt and proof of funds, plus a statement of purpose explaining your study plan (see our SOP guide for a Canada student visa). Seneca offers free study permit support through its partner BorderPass, or you can apply to IRCC yourself. If your program has a mandatory co-op, such as Software Engineering, apply for a co-op work permit at the same time.

Seneca doesn’t publish a fixed decision time, so follow your status in Student Home. Apply 9 to 12 months before your start date so there is time for the offer, the PAL and your study permit. For the visa stage, read our guides to Canada student visa requirements and proof of funds.
