This guide is for Nepali students applying to Humber Polytechnic in Toronto. It covers the acceptance rate, the grades and English scores you need, the documents to prepare in Nepal and each step from application to study permit. What is Humber Polytechnic’s acceptance rate?

Humber Polytechnic doesn’t publish an acceptance rate. Percentages quoted on other websites are outside estimates, not official numbers.

Humber says admission can be competitive and that it receives significantly more applications than it has spaces. Meeting the minimum requirements doesn’t guarantee admission. Humber compares qualified applicants on their academic and program requirements, and offers go to the best-qualified first.

Timing matters too. Program availability depends on when Humber processes your application, not when you submit it, and programs without conditional offers fill quickly. Apply early with a complete file, and check that your program is still open before you pay the fee.

What grades do you need from Nepal?

Humber publishes Nepal-specific rules: at least 70 in the required +2 subjects for diplomas and certificates, at least a B in the relevant NEB subjects for bachelor’s degrees, and a First Division bachelor’s degree for graduate certificates.

These come from Humber’s admission requirements for Nepal. Each program also lists its own required subjects, compared against the Ontario Grade 12 course list. Examples from Humber’s program pages:

• Computer Programming and Analysis (advanced diploma): Grade 12 English, Grade 12 Mathematics and two more Grade 11 or 12 courses.
• Practical Nursing (diploma): Grade 12 English and Mathematics, plus Grade 11 or 12 Biology and Chemistry.
• Nursing, Bachelor of Science: Grade 12 English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology with at least 75% in each, and a 75% overall average.
• Graduate certificates (example: Cloud Computing): a bachelor’s degree, advanced diploma or diploma in computer science, programming, engineering or IT, or any field plus three years of IT work.

What English scores does Humber Polytechnic accept?

IELTS 6.0 with no band under 5.5 for certificates and diplomas, and IELTS 6.5 with no band under 6.0 for bachelor’s degrees, graduate certificates and master’s degrees. Tests must be less than 24 months old.

Some programs ask for more than these minimums, and Duolingo isn’t accepted for Pharmacy Technician. Humber also accepts CAEL, Cambridge English, LanguageCert Academic, MET and ISE; the full table is on its English proficiency requirements page.

If your score is short, Humber’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program runs eight levels of seven weeks each. Fully qualified applicants who are short only on English can get a conditional offer, and finishing Level 8 on time secures the seat. Which documents do you need from Nepal?

Scanned copies of your original transcripts for all your previous study, your English test result and your passport details, with a notarized official English translation of anything not already in English.

• Your NEB Grade XI and XII transcripts and, for graduate certificates, your university transcripts for every year. Our guide explains how to get transcripts in Nepal from NEB, TU and other boards.
• A notarized, official English translation of any transcript that isn’t already in English.
• Your IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or Duolingo score report.
• A valid passport: your name, date of birth and other details must match it exactly, because Humber copies them onto your PAL and can’t change it later. If you don’t have one yet, see getting a Nepali passport for study abroad.
• Anything extra your program asks for, such as a portfolio, audition, letter of intent or references; you’ll see these under View Details in your Applicant Portal.

Upload documents with your application, or later through the Applicant Portal’s Upload Document option. Nepali certificates and bank documents often carry Bikram Sambat dates; our Nepali date converter helps you match them to the A.D. dates on your forms.

How do you apply to Humber Polytechnic, step by step?

You apply on Humber’s own web application, not OCAS, for a CAD 100 fee. After an offer, you accept it and pay a CAD 2,000 deposit, and Humber then requests your PAL for the study permit.

1. Choose your program and check it’s open on Humber’s international program availability list, then read the program’s admission requirements.
2. Apply online. Use Humber’s web application for students outside Canada and pay the CAD 100 non-refundable fee by credit card. One fee covers up to two program choices for one intake, and Humber assesses your first choice first.
3. Track your application in the Applicant Portal and upload any missing documents. Offers can come days or weeks after you apply, as a firm offer, a conditional offer or a waitlist place.
4. Accept and pay. Accept your offer in the Applicant Portal by the deadline on your letter of acceptance (LOA), then pay the CAD 2,000 tuition deposit in MyHumber through PayMyTuition or Flywire. 5. Get your Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). Once the deposit is paid, Humber requests your PAL from the Ontario ministry and emails it to you, usually within 1 to 2 business days. Read what a PAL is and who needs one.
6. Apply for your study permit before your PAL expires, with your LOA, PAL, deposit receipt and proof of funds, plus a statement of purpose explaining your study plan (see our SOP guide for a Canada student visa). Humber offers free help through its BorderPass partnership.
7. Pay the rest of your fees by the due date on your LOA, then register for your courses.
