Humber Polytechnic

Humber Polytechnic, known until 2024 as Humber College and formally The Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, is a public college in Toronto, Ontario. It opened in 1967, teaches about 16,500 full-time-equivalent students and offers more than 200 programs, from one-year certificates to bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Why do Nepali students choose Humber Polytechnic?

Because it is one of Toronto’s largest public colleges, with three campuses inside the city, strong IT, AI, business and health programs, and its own bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

• IT, AI and data. Graduate certificates such as Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning, Cloud Computing and Data Analytics are all on Humber’s PGWP-eligible list. Humber also runs its own Master of Computer Science in Cybersecurity Operations and Management at North Campus.
• Graduate certificates for bachelor’s holders. If you already hold a bachelor’s degree from TU or another Nepali university, a one-year graduate certificate such as Supply Chain Management is a quick route to a Canadian credential. Check the PGWP status first, because several business graduate certificates, including Human Resources Management, are not on the list.
• Health and engineering programs after +2. Practical Nursing, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Pharmacy Technician and three-year engineering technology diplomas such as Civil Engineering Technology are PGWP-eligible and open to international students.
• Study inside Toronto. All three campuses are in the city of Toronto, Canada’s largest job market, and on the public transit network. Rent is high in Toronto, so plan your budget early.

Where are Humber Polytechnic’s campuses?

Humber has three campuses, all in Toronto: North Campus (the largest), Lakeshore Campus on Lake Ontario and the Downtown Campus, also called the International Graduate School (IGS).

Humber says it is publicly funded and has no public-private partnership, so there is no private partner (curriculum-licensing) campus to worry about. The Downtown Campus is Humber’s own. How much does Humber Polytechnic cost for international students?

Tuition for two semesters is about CAD 18,600 to 24,700 for most programs in 2026/27, and bachelor’s degrees cost about CAD 22,700 to 25,200 a year.

A few programs cost more, up to about CAD 29,000 for Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, Music Business and Blockchain Design, Development and Integration. Basic health insurance for full-time international students is included in the tuition fees. Books and supplies are extra.

If your study permit is refused, withdraw through the MyHumber withdrawal eForm and upload the refusal letter before the tenth day of classes. Humber then refunds your fees in full, minus an administration holdback fee. You can also defer to a later intake, up to three consecutive semesters, if seats are available.

When are Humber Polytechnic’s intakes?

Humber starts programs in September, January and May, but each program sets its own intakes. Right now, 107 of its 174 on-campus international programs are open for January 2027, 36 for May 2027 and 152 for September 2027.

For example, Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Supply Chain Management are open for January, May and September 2027. Practical Nursing is open for May and September 2027, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing only for September 2027. Seats go first-come, first-served, so a program can close before its start date.

Can you work while studying at Humber and after you graduate?

Yes. You can work up to 24 hours a week off campus while classes are on, and many Humber programs lead to a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), but not all of them.

For the PGWP, the rules depend on your credential:

• Bachelor’s and master’s degrees, such as the Bachelor of Science in Nursing or the Master of Computer Science in Cybersecurity Operations and Management, have no field-of-study requirement. Humber says all its degree programs are PGWP-eligible, but graduates need an English result of at least CLB 7.
• Diplomas, advanced diplomas and graduate certificates must be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. Humber marks each program in its PGWP-eligible program list; 123 of the 176 programs open to international applicants are marked eligible.
• College graduates also need an English test result of at least CLB 5 in all four skills when they apply for the PGWP.

At least half of the program must be taken in class, and Humber’s online programs are not PGWP-eligible. Popular programs such as Business Administration, Human Resources Management and Global Business Management are not on the list even though they take international students. Which scholarships can Nepali students get at Humber?

Students applying from outside Canada can get the President’s International Entrance Award, a CAD 2,000 bursary for eligible full-time programs starting in January or May 2027.

How the entrance scholarship works:

• Amount: a one-time CAD 2,000 bursary, credited to your Humber fees.
• Who can get it: international students living outside Canada, without a Humber study permit, starting an eligible full-time program. English for Academic Purposes and Board Certificate programs are not eligible.
• What you have to do: accept your offer and apply for your study permit by the deadlines below. Pay the CAD 2,000 deposit and your remaining fees by the dates on your letter of acceptance, and stay enrolled past the tenth day of classes.
• When: for January 2027, accept your offer before 30 October 2026 and submit your study permit application by 6 November 2026. For May 2027, accept before 12 February 2027 and apply for the permit by 26 February 2027.

What do you need to get into Humber Polytechnic from Nepal?

Humber publishes Nepal rules: diplomas need 70 or more in the required +2 subjects, and bachelor’s degrees need at least a B in the relevant NEB subjects. Graduate certificates need a bachelor’s degree in First Division, and IELTS is 6.0 or 6.5 depending on the level.

IELTS 6.0 with no band under 5.5 (or PTE 53) covers certificates and diplomas; degrees and graduate certificates need IELTS 6.5 with no band under 6.0. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is stricter: IELTS 7.0 with no band under 6.5, and at least 75% in Grade 12 English, Math, Chemistry and Biology. Where do Humber Polytechnic students live?

Humber Residence houses more than 1,700 students at North and Lakeshore campuses, and 99% of its bedrooms are private.

You can apply for residence after you accept your offer, and rooms go first-come, first-served, with a CAD 500 non-refundable deposit once you get a room offer. The rental term covers the 8 study months, and fees include everything except your phone.
