About Loyalist College

Loyalist College started life in 1967 inside a repurposed local high school. A year later it moved into a permanent home on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in Belleville, Ontario, and it has stayed there ever since – now spread across more than 200 acres in the Bay of Quinte region, roughly midway between Toronto and Ottawa. The college’s own tagline is “Choose small,” and that shows up in class sizes built for hands-on labs and studio work rather than lecture halls.

The official Loyalist College website lists more than 70 full-time programs across applied science, business, health sciences, justice studies, media and creative industries, and skilled trades. The college also has a real legacy in journalism and broadcasting – its campus radio station, CJLX-FM, was the first in Canada to be granted a campus instructional licence, and has been training broadcast students on air since 1992. Library

The Parrott Centre is Loyalist’s library and learning commons on the Belleville campus – a high-tech resource centre with computer and printing stations, study rooms, a mezzanine level with seminar rooms and wired study carrels, plus e-book collections, research guides and databases students can reach online at any hour.

Careers And Part-Time Work

Career Services runs workshops and employer networking events on campus, and supports students placed in co-op programs as they line up paid, pre-approved positions through the college’s job board. Loyalist also hosts Community Employment Services, a satellite office of the local employment agency, right on the Belleville campus – useful for students looking for part-time work while they study, on top of the usual on-campus roles in the library, residence and student services.

Upcoming Intakes

Loyalist opens most programs to new students three times a year – September, January and May – though not every program runs in every intake, and some post-graduate programs admit only once annually. International applicants should plan to apply at least six months ahead of their intended start date, to leave enough time for the study permit process.

Deadline For Admissions

Loyalist does not publish a fixed cut-off date for its Nepali applicants – applications for each intake are reviewed on a rolling basis until seats fill. As a general rule, apply 9 to 12 months ahead of your intended intake so there’s time for the offer letter, tuition deposit, study permit and travel arrangements.

The Residence Life Office on the Belleville campus runs suite-style residence housing for up to 475 students. Rooms come furnished with internet and phone service included, meal plans run on a declining-balance system, and residence staff and security are on site 24/7.
