Canada Study Visa Updates for Nepalese Students (Latest News)

More recently, students from Nepal who had applied to study in Canada have been waiting for 4 to 8 months to get their visa decision from the Canadian High Commission (IRCC), New Delhi, India. Unlike its general processing time, i.e. 2 to 3 months; this time has been really painful for students and parents who are concerned about their pending visa decisions. According to Mr. Satish Bhatta, Counselor of Goreto Educational Consultancy – the main reason behind this prolonged processing time is because of the halting events like 2nd covid lockdown and the recent Canadian election (Sept 20) and significantly high number of applications where the high commission could not process the existing files on a timely manner. 

However, in this period Canada was giving the visa decision of SDS countries like India on time since these countries are on the priority list of IRCC which has a provision to process SDS applications within 20 calendar days. Meanwhile, most of the applicants including Nepalese students have been getting positive decisions from the IRCC. Senior Advisor of Goreto, Mr. Dhiraj Kandel stated that the reason Goreto has been quite successful in clinching an overwhelming number of visa successes is because of the scrutiny they conduct in selecting the right program, properly arranging financial documents, and making the SOP convincing for visa applicants. 

In this context, the students who had applied or thinking about applying for Canada need not worry as the IRCC has started giving visa decisions after almost one month’s halt starting from November 15 as said by Mr. Kandel. He also stated that the IRCC is mainly concerned about the score of students in their language proficiency test (i.e. IELTS / – 6.5 with each band 6 / (PTE Score) 58 and minimum 51 in each band  / TOEFL – 80 with minimum 20) while it is flexible on academic grade where students with 2nd division and having academic gap up to 6 years have also got the visa with high success rate. The most attractive feature of a Canadian study permit is that even the students whose visa was refused from the US, Australia, Canada, and other countries can apply for Canada with a significant visa acceptance rate. Besides, the financial documentation is quite uncomplicated and takes a couple of days to complete after getting an offer letter within 2 to 20 days. 

Mr. Bhatta highlighted the fact that currently the whole process of grabbing a Canadian study visa has been slashed to only 3 months and students should apply for May 2022 promptly while they can take some time for IELTS or PTE preparation before applying for Sept 2022. Goreto’s Spokesman and Digital Marketer, Mr. Prakash Regmi encouraged students to research for their appropriate courses, institutions, preferred cities before thinking about Canadian study. He also signifies the role of timing and advised students to apply before 4 to 8 months prior to the intakes (Jan/May/Sept) in Canada for increasing the prospect of their visa chance.
